Food 4 Fuel Guest Speaker - October Pathway Day
Jim McIlroy, owner and operator of Food 4 Fuel in Loves Park, stopped by to talk to the Business and Fitness/Wellness Pathways. Mr. McIlroy brought fresh fruit for students to snack on while he discussed the offerings of his business and entrepreneurship in general.
The main point that Mr. McIlroy made with students was that they should always have a “why” in everything they do, whether that is going to school, going to work, or starting their own business. Mr. McIlroy also discussed the importance of good nutrition and a balanced diet, while sharing with students his weight-loss journey and his goal to take Rockford from one of the most un-fit cities in the United States, to a top 25 most-healthy city by 2015. Students were so well-behaved that Mr. McIlroy offered to bring some fresh food for students to sample on another visit and has invited Roosevelt students to visit him and see his kitchen up-close on a future field trip! |
